The approach for folding a heart is much like that used for making hearts with paper. Fold the fabric in half, where the middle of the heart should appear. On the folded fabrics draw a half-heart outline. Many find it helpful to exaggerate the cleft and the point of the heart.

Fold accordion folds perpendicularly to the outline. Force the shape into a straight line as you make the accordion folds. You may have to tug the fabric to keep the line straight.

The pleated fabric is then fastened or bound.

These images show binding using rubber bands. This configuration combines the heart with a Scrunch or Chaos fold. It will result in one concentric heart.

These images show binding with artificial sinew. Folded this way will result in multiple concentric hearts radiating from the one in the middle/
